  • NO SHOW-N-TELL this coming week.  Since this is a 3 day week and we have our music program on Wednesday there just is not enough time to enjoy activities with the letter N.  We will pick up with letter “N” on the Jan. 9th 2012
  • We  had fun today with wearing our PJ’s and doing a variety of slumber party activities….popcorn, Joe’s birthday, art, graphing, and decorating Gingerbread houses. Thanks for the help with decorating them.
  • Winter Music Program….Wednesday, Dec. 21st at 1:30; arrive early to find a good seat.  Videotaping is allowed and please plan on coming to the classroom afterwards to pick up a present made for you; take rest towels home for washing & art work that belongs to your child for the holidays and pick up the newsletter and treat calendar.   The students are excited to have you hear their songs and poems.  Ask your child to share a poem or sing a song this weekend.  SEE YOU on WEDNESDAY, Dec. 21st
  • Christmas break begin Dec. 22nd & children will return to school on Jan. 3rd.
  • A new treat calendar will come home next week.
  • We have collected lots of food items and coins for the “Food Shelf”. Thanks for helping and encouraging your child to bring items to school.  A photo will be posted of all the items received.
  • Play the TOOTHPICK GAME: for 2 players; 7 toothpicks: Lay toothpicks out in a row; each player takes their turn picking up 1, 2 or 3 toothpicks. The player to take the last toothpick wins.

  • “M,m” Show-n-Tell on Monday…Thanks for your encouragement and assistance in finding something that begins with the letter sound of the week.
  • We took a mini trip to Mexico this week and arrived safely back at McKinley just in time for us to take the bus home to you.   We have been speaking some Spanish, learned about the scenic sights of Mexico, ate Nachos at lunch & talked about the Mexican flag.  We have read both non fiction and fiction stories about Mexico and made some art projects that decorated our room.  We had some Churros today.  Ask your child if they liked them.
  • Next week we will talk about our 5 senses and we will continue to look for Santa’s Elf, Chippy who is watching us and sending Santa a report. The students find him hiding all around the room.
  • YOU ARE INVITED TO A
GINGERBREAD HOUSE DECORATING PARTY

WHEN: FRIDAY, Dec. 16th
TIME: 12:30 PM-1:00/1:15 PM
I would love to have one parent or a special friend come to school on Friday at 12:30 PM to assist each of students to decorate a GINGERBREAD HOUSE.  I will have the houses made along with the frosting ready but would love & need adult helpers to help students decorate. We will also need a variety of food items to make the houses look festive!!  I am asking that each  child  brings a bag of candy, chocolate chips, sprinkles, candy canes, M&M’s, licorice any color, frosting gels jelly beans, peppermints, life savers  etc. to be used by the students to decorate the houses. The houses will hopefully be carried home carefully by the adult that is able to come.

  • Friday is also PJ day so each child can wear their warm cozy pajamas & slippers at school.  If they want to bring their favorite stuffed toy that would be great.
  • We continue to work hard on our poems for the music program on WEDNESDAY, DEC. 21st at 1:30 PM….I will be looking for you.  If schedules don’t allow you to come, please find a special someone to be there. It’s an  exciting day and we will be performing with 3 other
classrooms. You are invited to our classroom after the program to pick up your present, made for   the family, by your kindergarten child.
  • Remember we are still collecting labels, grocery receipts, etc for our school
  • We have one more week to collect cans and coins for the local food shelf.
